Augusta Wind Press was conceived in 1997 in Augusta, Montana, where the winds are mysterious. I remember driving back home from Shelby in the pickup late at night nearly blocked by two feet of fresh snow on a back road to Choteau, the truck lugging and fishtailing up the hills. The last turnoff to a ranch was ten miles behind. Then out of the freeze came a hot wind that took the temperature from zero to 60 in an hour. By the time I pulled into Augusta the accumulated snow was melted into shallow lakes.
That adventure in Augusta is at the heart of this publishing house: producing never-before stories that entertain and surprise the reader.
